The author of Hebrews uses a sports analogy to compare the progression of our faith to an Olympic race. Anything that gets in the way of us running the race for Christ should be set aside. We are tempted to either run for our own victory or to give up. The Bible, on the other hand, instructs us to run with patience and rely on Christ as our source of motivation and strength as we run through this life. No Olympian would compete in a race half-heartedly, but with speed and endurance. Set your sights on Christ, who is the perfect model for how to run the race of faith, regardless of your circumstances.
